Calcium Channel Screening Assays
Voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCC) are found in excitable cells such as muscle and neurons and consist of an α1 ion-conducting pore which forms a complex with associated subunits (α2δ, β1-4, γ). There are various voltage-gated calcium channel α1 subtypes, namely the L-type (Cav1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4), P/Q-type (Cav2.1), N-type (Cav2.2), R-type (Cav2.3) and T-type (Cav3.1, 3.2. 3.3) channels.
